Koza Baptist Church – Planned Completion in May 2008

It will be easy to remember September.  God has been so faithful in seeing us through every single obstacle to date and He was especially with us this month.  Of particular note was the transformation of an empty grocery store.  What a testimony to God’s handiwork last Sunday when the people were so overwhelmed as they arrived.

The final picture from atop of Koza shows Goya Baptist roof pointing toward our temporary site.  The close up on the left provides a better picture.

We were especially concerned over the contract for construction.  As shared last month, the bid applications were received from six companies.  All six were worked up and returned with Nakamoto having the lowest bid.  The picture below was taken at the Groundbreaking Ceremony, 30 SEP 07.

Groundbreaking on 30 SEP 07

Starting at the left and working around the group are Tim Smith (Associate Pastor) Nakamoto-san (President of Nakamoto Co., Pastor Bo, Britt Morrison (Chairman of Deacons) and John Reimer (Chair to Relocation for Revival Committee).

Finally, the demolition began on Monday, October 1st.  This will take approximately thirty days.  Once completed, the Prefecture will pay and the contract for the high rise apartments will be let upon “all clear” from the historical folks from Okinawa City.  This is indeed a prayer concern.
