FIRST CONSTRUCTION MEETING
29 OCT 07

Our first construction meeting with Nakamoto was held this date at the new site.  It has been just short of thirty-days since the ground breaking and based on the meeting, all is progressing well.  Of the eighty-nine pilings required to secure the foundation, thirty-eight have been set.  The photo to the left shows the pile driver and several pilings located on the south end where the classrooms will be.

Tim and Laura discuss the progress with the construction foreman while walking through the site.

As for the Nakasone site, the demolition has been completed with only the removal of the debris and the historical review remaining.  For over a week the people passing by the site could only see the cross standing alone.  (Picture above)  It was a visual reminder of the constant need of the gospel being put before the people of the world.

The Okinawa City Historical Survey Team is digging now to determine if the site merits additional excavations.  As of 31 October they have dug four holes and found approximately thirty small fragments of Chinese pottery dating back five hundred years.  This will most likely cause a delay in the turn over of the land and in turn the close of the sale.

In the picture you can see all of the old building is down now and Goya Baptist Church is shown at the left.  It too will be relocating in 2008.
