Our Pastor

John began serving as Senior Pastor on Sunday, August 17, 2008.

John and Sherry come to Koza with many years of  experience serving Christ as a military family through the church’s ministry.  Psalm 90:12 advises us to number our days that we might present to God a heart full of wisdom and the Reimers are compelled to follow God’s leadership to make as significant a spiritual contribution as possible and sustain it for the maximum time available.  John is interested in educating the church through clear and effective Bible teaching and preaching.  He also wants to lead the church body to encounter the living God through evangelism, to respond to His call in their lives, and to demonstrate genuine concern.

Our Associate Pastor

Tim and Melody came to Koza in July of 2006.  Tim graduated with a Bachelors in Church Music from the University of Mobile; and with a Master in Divinity in Christian Education from the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary.  Before coming to Okinawa, he served in various churches in Alabama, Indiana, and South Dakota.  They have been married since 1981 and have three children, one daughter-in-law, and two grandchildren.

Pastor Emeritus

Bo and Betty Russell came to Koza in 1997 as the first pastor family called by the church. The four previous pastors had each been assigned by the then Southern Baptist Foreign Mission Board, but recent reductions in Far East funding  required Koza to take this step of faith.  Bo retired as Senior Pastor in July of 2008.  He and Betty are still seeking to serve in the Okinawan community.
