awana - children and youth ministry

Our children's clubs meet on Friday evenings from 6:00 - 8:00 pm. (For more information, click here to visit our fb page - AWANA Clubs at Koza Baptist Church, Okinawa) AWANA helps churches and parents work together to develop spiritually strong children and youth who faithfully follow Jesus Christ. Our programs offer a proven approach for evangelizing and discipling kids in the church and community.

T&T® engages upper elementary (3rd-6th grade) children by answering their questions about God and the Bible, guiding them through this pivotal life stage to grow in Christ's grace.

Sparks® ignites the curiosity of early elementary (K-2nd grade) children to learn about the people and events of the Bible, building a foundation of wisdom for knowing Christ.

Cubbies® celebrates the spiritual potential of preschoolers (3 and 4 years old) by helping them to develop respect for God, His Son and His Word.

Puggles® recognizes the learning ability of 2 and 3 year old children by introducing biblical precepts at church and equipping parents to teach them at home. Toddlers love having their very own Awana club just like their older siblings.

Trek® & Journey® We do not offer the traditional Trek and Journey clubs for middle and high school students, but we allow them to participate as Student Leaders and work through the C-Track Program if they should choose to further their Awana curriculum.

It is required that at least one Parent/Guardian in the household volunteers in the Awana Program in order for their child(ren) to participate in Awana. We understand that not every family can commit to the 2 hour time slot on Friday evenings. We have many positions available and will find something for you that suits your schedule and our needs. Please keep in mind that we will do our best to accommodate your preferences, but positions will be filled on a first come, first served basis. Thank you for your understanding.

We require that every volunteer in Awana attend certification and safety training. These events are mandatory and will have limited childcare provided. If you will need childcare, please inform the Commander or Secretary. Space is limited and specifically available for ages 6 months to 12 years. If your child(ren) are older than 12, you must make arrangements for them for the duration of the training. For children 6-12 years, there will be a cost of $5 per child to help cover the cost of babysitters. Please bring something to keep them busy.

Awana Basics Training will be on Saturday August 18th from 3pm to 6pm. We will provide light refreshments. Childcare drop off will be at 2:45pm and we will begin promptly at 3pm. Please pack snacks or meals for your child(ren) if they will be needing them.

***If you have already completed the Awana Basics Training you will not be required to repeat it.

Koza Safety Training will be held on Saturday August 25th from 3pm to 4pm. Childcare drop off will be at 2:45pm and we will begin promptly at 3pm. Please pack snacks or meals for your child(ren) if they will be needing them.

***Koza Safety Training is required for everyone regardless of previous training. However, if you attend the Awana Basics Training on August 18th, you do not need to attend Koza Safety Training on August 25th as this information will be covered at the time of the Awana Basics Training on August 18th.
